Why Small Businesses in Gaya Need a Website in 2026

A customer's first question is usually asked to Google, not to you
Before calling a shop, restaurant, or service provider, most people now search for it first — to check if it's open, where exactly it is, what it offers, and whether it looks trustworthy. If that search turns up nothing more than a phone number or an outdated Facebook page, the business has already lost a bit of an edge before the conversation even starts.
This doesn't mean every business needs a large, expensive website. It means a business needs somewhere that reliably answers the basic questions a new customer has: what do you do, where are you, what does it cost roughly, and how do I reach you. A simple website that does this well is worth more than a large one that's confusing.
A website works even while the shop is closed
A physical shop can only answer questions during opening hours. A website answers them at 11pm when someone is deciding where to order dinner from tomorrow, or comparing three hotels before picking one for a weekend trip. That's the real value of having one — not that it looks impressive, but that it keeps working when you're not available to pick up the phone.
What actually needs to be on it
The businesses that get the most out of a website usually keep it focused: a clear description of what they do, photos that represent the actual place or product, pricing or a price range if possible, and one obvious way to get in touch — increasingly, that's a WhatsApp button rather than only a phone number. Everything beyond that (blog sections, elaborate animations, multiple language versions) can wait until the basics are working and bringing in enquiries.
It's also worth thinking about mobile first. In Gaya and most of Bihar, the large majority of visitors will open a business website from a phone, often on a slower connection, so a fast, simple mobile layout matters more than how it looks on a desktop monitor.
